James B. Robinson, III
President & Founder
James has spent his life on boats and grew up in boat yards. He was raised by his father who was an electrical engineer and commercial fisherman. James wanted to be just like his grandfather who was a stock broker and repaired his own yachts. Spending his childhood with these two gentleman repairing and maintaining the three Hatteras Convertibles they owned; James garnered an enormous amount of knowledge and skill in yachting. James was already skilled at piloting and docking the boats his family owned before the age of ten. He decided after attending St. Mary’s college of MD that he was destined for the Yacht Service Industry. He returned to his roots in Solomons Island, Maryland and took a position as Dockmaster at Zahnizer's Marina. Wanting to further his career and to learn more about the supply side of the business he accepted a position with Fawcett Boat Supply in Annapolis, Maryland. Mr.Robinson excelled in the procurement side of the business. While working at Fawcett's', Mr. Robinson made several business connections that landed him a job with Hinckley Yacht Services as Purchasing/VIP Service Manager for their operation in Oxford, The Hinckley Company Sail, Power and JETBOAT Following Hinckley he worked with rival and renowned boat builder, Ellis Boat Company in Southwest Harbor, Maine. James was able to be a part of the whole process of making a custom built yacht. From mold prep, hand laying hull to sea trials of a custom 36 foot Lobster Yacht. He was also fortunate to work with some of the most skilled custom yacht craftsmen in the country. From there he moved further south to Portland Maine working with Maine Yacht Center. This yard provided the opportunity to manage service on yachts from 40' to 90’
They also built and prepped class 40 Akilaria race boats for trans-Atlantic and solo around the world races.fast forward to today; James has his own yacht repair yard in Charleston, South Carolina. He and his team are working to provide world class service in a timely manner from Murrells Inlet to Hilton Head island.
